Decluttering Questions

There are about a bajillion decluttering and organizing experts sharing content in the world right now. For every one of them there are probably ten more LISTS OF QUESTIONS FOR DECLUTTERING.

Here are some of my favorites that I hope could be useful for you:

#1 is pretty standard - Have I used this in the last six months or will I use it in the next six months?

#2- Do I really, really love it or does it spark joy? Popularized by Marie Kondo- this question is useful for some people in some scenarios, but might not apply across the board. It can be a slippery slope if you're the type who genuinely β€˜loves’ all the things.

#3-If someone had removed this from my life without me knowing, would I have ever noticed or missed it?

#4-Do I own multiples of this type of item or do I have another one I like better?

#5-How big of a struggle will it honestly be to live without this? Could I easily replace it, borrow one, or make do with something else I own?

#6- If someone offered me the same amount of money I paid for this, would I take the cash or keep the item?

#7(a little gross, but one of my favorites) The Poop Rule- If this had poop on it, would I bother cleaning it or throw it away? This certainly let's you know where your attachment stands. 😁
