The Influx

Once upon a time I considered myself to be pretty smart. I was a good student, worked hard, earned good grades, etc.

It is remarkable how many times I've encountered the most simple problem/solution scenarios that took me forever to understand.

The influx is one of them.

Back when I had a lot more stuff in my house I felt like I was always decluttering. I've never had strong attachments to physical items and when my girls were little I was frequently going through toys, books, clothing, etc to see what they had outgrown and what could go.

But there was always more and more and more. Guess what? Like Taylor Swift -I was the problem. Hi! It's me.

I loved to check the Target dollar zone. I checked the clearance clothing racks. I bought another little toy hoping that it would entertain them for an hour and give me a tiny break.

A big part of the reason your house stays cluttered could be the influx.

Some of it is unavoidable. Life involves stuff. Mail, paperwork, groceries. Things are always coming in and going out.

But shopping, collecting, thrifting, yard sales, clearance racks- these should be considered enemy number one if you are already overwhelmed in your home.

You have to stop the influx.
